About AndrewA brief career history

Born in Bury, Lancashire (as it was then) and growing up in the Greater Manchester area, I attended Bury Grammar School before commencing my career in Architecture in 1968. I started as an office junior for an architect’s practice in Bolton whilst simultaneously attending the Technicians in Architecture course at the Manchester College of Building. I attained an HNC level pass of the college course in 1973, and since that time have worked in architecture both in private practice and in public service.

For a period of time during the 1980s and 90s I worked as a local authority building control officer and sat the examinations of the Institute of Building Control Officers (now RICS), becoming a member in August 1995. The following year I left building control to concentrate on architecture and have since discontinued my membership of IBCO.

Throughout my career I have worked on all types of architecture: residential; new build and alteration works; commercial, and public and industrial buildings; from initial design stage to detail design and contract supervision.

I have a great deal of experience in the production of construction drawings and information, especially in residential work.

I am a member of the Charted Institute of Architectural Technologists (see www.ciat.org.uk).
